Work Focussed Learning
For learners who wish to address any barrier/s to learning and/or who need to confirm an occupational focus in order for them to take part in employment, further learning and/or Routeways to Work.
This option will include work placements, community projects, voluntary work and centre-based learning to confirm an occupational focus. This pathway will also enable the learner to achieve qualifications on the Qualifications and Credit Framework up to and including level 2 and test knowledge at level 3 (but not occupational competence)

Most people start off as a salon assistant helping out with daily salon tasks. After a little while you start to pick up the techniques learnt from the others around you. Hairdressing isn’t all about cutting hair; there are many opportunities available to progress into management, training or business. This option includes work placements, community projects, voluntary work and centre based learning opportunities which aim to confirm an occupational focus and provide learners with the breadth and flexibility of skills they need to enable them to participate in the work force and society prior to progressing, at the earliest opportunity, to either employment, further learning, and/or Routeways to Work.

Today there are very few job roles that don’t require customer service skills whether dealing directly with customers by answering their queries, providing information, solving problems, selling products or resolving complaints. Customer Service is a great way to boost your career and break into large organisations whatever path you choose to follow.

There are many options available in a hospitality role. You could find yourself doing anything from preparing food and drinks to organising conference facilities, working on a reception desk or providing trolley service. Hospitality is a great way to meet new people, work in a team and satisfy customers’ needs. A Hospitality qualification focuses on your area of expertise and lets you train as you work. Within a few years you could progress to running a hectic kitchen or managing a busy hotel.

Administrators support companies with daily tasks like word-processing, report and letter writing, answering the telephone and keeping on top of filing. Without this role in place nothing would get done and businesses would stop functioning. There are many great career opportunities available for administrators with the right qualifications and experience. Your skills could be applied to many roles from an office assistant to data processor, department supervisor or even manager. A Business Administration qualification is an excellent way to prove your skills to current or future employers.
