Most people start off as a salon assistant helping out with daily salon tasks. After a little while you start to pick up the techniques learnt from the others around you. Hairdressing isn’t all about cutting hair; there are many opportunities available to progress into management, training or business. If you’re fashion conscious, creative and a good communicator, a career in hairdressing is an exciting way to express ideas and make customers feel good about themselves.
The Level 1 Traineeship encompasses the identification and addressing of a learning barrier (or barriers) to support the learner progressing into vocational or other learning at level 1 or specified level 2, or entering employment. This pathway could include work placements, community projects, voluntary work and centre based learning opportunities to deliver a Qualification and Credit Framework (QCF) qualification which tests occupational competencies at Level 1 or an Essential Skills qualification at level 2, relevant to the career aim of the learner, prior to progressing to either employment or further learning at a higher level.
