Introduction

The Level 3 Apprenticeship in IT Users is designed for individuals who are already using IT extensively in their job role and need to work more independently and at a higher level. It is suited to those who create complex documents, analyse and present data, manage digital projects, or support colleagues with IT systems.

This apprenticeship builds on the foundation gained at Level 2 and provides learners with advanced digital skills to improve efficiency, communication, and productivity in the workplace. It prepares learners to take on more responsibility in IT-related tasks and projects.

Requirements

Assessment and What to Expect

  • Workplace-based assessment: Evidence is drawn from advanced IT tasks completed as part of the learner’s role.

  • Portfolio of evidence: Includes complex documents, reports, spreadsheets, data analysis, and project work.

  • Direct observations: Assessors observe learners using IT systems to manage and deliver tasks.

  • Professional discussions: Structured conversations to demonstrate understanding of IT tools, problem-solving, and improving digital workflows.

  • Knowledge assignments: Written or digital tasks on IT security, collaborative working, and using technology to support decision-making.

Learners will be supported by an assessor to build a portfolio that demonstrates competence in applying advanced IT skills to real workplace scenarios.

Outcomes

On successful completion, learners will:

  • Be equipped to work in more advanced IT and digital roles, such as IT Support Technician, Digital Coordinator, Data Analyst Assistant, or Senior Administrator.

  • Have the confidence to manage IT-based projects, analyse and present data, and support colleagues in effective IT use.

  • Be well prepared to progress into higher-level specialist IT qualifications or into related areas such as business administration, digital marketing, or management.
