Jason Lodwick’s success story is one of determination, leadership, and resilience. As a Senior Support Worker and Team Leader at Ty Pin Coed (MandD Care), Jason has balanced personal responsibilities with professional development, completing his Level 4 Professional Practice in Health and Social Care with PRP Training in September 2024.
Jason’s journey has not been easy. Alongside his studies, he cared for his newborn child and close relatives while continuing to manage responsibilities at work. Despite these pressures, he excelled in his qualification, completing additional training in leadership, autism, and positive behaviour management. His commitment to lifelong learning demonstrates his passion for improving care standards and supporting others.
Within the workplace, Jason has consistently added value. He was instrumental in improving the induction process for new staff, creating a “New Starter” checklist that received praise from new employees, managers, and external professionals. He also took on the Acting Deputy Manager role during a period of transition, supporting his team through staffing challenges and the legacy of Covid-19. His ability to lead with empathy and professionalism has been recognised internally, with nominations for national awards and his involvement in Ty Pin Coed’s CIW “centre of excellence” status.
Jason’s colleagues and managers describe him as an ambassador for apprenticeships. He shares his knowledge with peers, mentors newer staff, and promotes professional development within the team. His dedication to embedding Welsh language into his practice also reflects his commitment to cultural and professional growth.
Being named runner-up at the B-wbl Awards highlights Jason’s resilience and impact. He has overcome challenges, embraced leadership, and demonstrated what apprenticeships can achieve. Jason’s journey proves that with determination and commitment, it is possible to balance personal challenges with professional success, leaving a lasting impact on both learners and the care sector.
